A Roll and a Rock

In four days, Finwe will be three months of age. He continues to amaze us with regards to his development. His head control is spectacular. He verbalizes well and in response to a person talking to him. And, this trip I discovered that he is ticklish. He has a cute laugh. It's not full-bodied, but he is a wee bit of a boy. (Well, at nearly 19 pounds he's not a wee anything really.)

What really amazed us happened on Friday while visiting his great aunt and uncle in Salisbury, NC. After changing his diaper I had to button up the back of his sleeper. I set him on his belly with his elbows to support him. I had finished snapping the sleeper, and, seeing he was happy on his belly, I left him there. He was cooing, moving his head, and pushing with his feet. Everyone was commenting on how he appeared to be attempting to crawl when plop! Over he went. HE ROLLED OVER TO HIS BACK! All of us exclaimed at this feat, including Inwe and Larien. I rolled him back onto his tummy, and he did it again. After those two rolls, he was tired. He's not even three months of age and he rolled! We haven't seem him do it again, but we were traveling for most of the day yesterday and he's not been on the floor today due to two little girls playing with all the new toys.

That's the roll of the title, now here's the rock.

Today we pulled the exersaucer down from the attic. We bought this years ago for Inwe, and it was used with Larien as well. Both of them were around four months of age before we put them in it. However, Finwe's big Christmas present was the exersaucer. We placed him in it and, voila! he likes it. He's even learned to hit a few of the rolling noise maker. We have it in the non-rock mode, but I bet that soon enough we'll take the stablizers off and let him rock.
